ABOUT DR. CURTIS LONG

Dr. Curtis W. Long is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, Board Certified Foot Surgeon, and Wound Care Specialist. He has appreciated his patients and has enjoyed giving personalized care to each one. He has provided foot care to patients from Walla Walla and many other surrounding areas since 1976.  He will retire on June 20, 2019 and will close his practice.

 

Dr. Long received his B.S. degree at Washington State University where he also lettered in football. He then studied at, and graduated from, Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, now the Kent University College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his externship at Southwest Osteopathic Hospital in Amarillo, Texas and his residency at Fairmont Clinic, West Virginia.

 

Dr. Long  has welcomed patients of all ages, educating and treating them for a variety of foot problems including ulcers, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot care and other diseases and conditions of the feet. 

 

As a United States Marine Corps Infantry Officer, Dr. Long served as an Infantry Platoon Commander and Company Commander for many years, including thirteen months in Vietnam. He later served in the United States Army Reserve, Medical Service Corps, until 2003. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Among many awards and decorations, he received the Purple Heart Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

 

Dr. Long has served in many professional organizations. He is a past president of the Washington Podiatric Medical Association. He is a member of the Washington State Podiatric Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association; Life member, Christian Medical and Dental Association; Certified Wound Specialist, American Board of Wound Management; Fellow, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons; Fellow, College of Certified Wound Specialists; and Diplomate, American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He has been on the medical staff at Providence St. Mary Medical Center and Walla Walla General Hospital.

 

Community service and activities are important to Dr. Long. He serves as President of the Board at Liberty Christian School, Walla Walla, a position he has held for many years. He and his wife, Jan, are on the committee for Blue Mountain area Young Life. As an Eagle Scout, he worked with the Boy Scouts of America, receiving several awards. He has participated in summer musicals in Walla Walla. Dr. Long and his wife have especially enjoyed volunteering and participating in Medical Missionary Trips giving medical help to people in Malawi, Zambia and Honduras.

 

Dr. Long and Jan have two adult children and a son-in-law. The family enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, backpacking and skiing.
